The Mallard Duck
Mallard ducks (Anas platyrhynchos) are among the most recognizable and widespread waterfowl in the world. Males sport glossy green or blue heads, chestnut breasts, and curled tail feathers, while females are mottled brown for camouflage. Known for their adaptability, mallards thrive in ponds, rivers, and wetlands across urban and rural landscapes. Their familiar quack and dabbling feeding style make them a favourite sight in parks and countryside alike.

The English/Grey Partridge
The English or grey partridge (Perdix perdix) is a plump, ground-dwelling bird native to farmland and grasslands across Europe. With its russet face, grey breast, and finely mottled flanks, it blends beautifully into the countryside. Known for its whirring flight and distinctive “kirrick” call, the grey partridge is a cherished part of rural heritage, especially in traditional gamekeeping and conservation circles.
The Ring-Neck Pheasant
The ring-necked pheasant (Phasianus colchicus) is a striking game bird known for its iridescent plumage and bold white neck ring, especially prominent in males. Native to Asia but widely introduced across Europe and North America, it thrives in farmland, hedgerows, and grasslands.
